In the morning, after all-hands-on deck drill there was a ship abandon drill. The time spent on donning immersion suits was checked with a stopwatch. Cadets did this job perfectly. Everyone fit in the time limit. In the evening there was a themed event dedicated to the anniversary of discovery of the new continent by Russian seafarers. The event took place in the Assembly hall of the Sedov. The crew and the cadets discussed the great expedition under the command of Thaddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev. This event was planned in the very beginning of the voyage 3/102. The themed event was basically carried out by the head of sea practice O. Kuznetsova and cadets of the Murmansk State Technical University M. Dudchik, D. Scriabin, V. Okunev and D. Barakov.
Its starting point was a report about the first circumnavigation of 1813-1816. Makar Dudchik and Danil Skriabin's report was very interesting to the audience. The finishing touch of their report was a poem by Zinaida Nefedova read in honor of the merits of the great naval commander.
Valeriy Okunev made the next report on the discovery of Antarctica by Thaddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev. Valeriy was assisted by Denis Barakov.
The results of the first Russian Antarctic expedition of 1819 -1821 are difficult to overestimate. The long-awaited mainland and 29 new islands were discovered.
At the end of the evening Captain Evgeny Romashkin told about the joint circumnavigation of the Sedov the Kruzenshtern and the Pallada. Sedov's expedition will last from December 06, 2019 to December 12, 2020. It will be devoted to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by the expedition under the command of Thaddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev and the 75th anniversary of the Victory.
