In the morning of April 18, the Turkish shore and the Strait between Europe and Asia – the Dardanelles appeared in the vicinity. Together with the Bosphorus, this important Strait connects the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas to the Black Sea. These waterways are also known as Turkish Straits. There are no bridges along the entire length of the Dardanelles. Although the construction of the "Canakkale-1915" suspension bridge is being in process. It is going to be world's largest suspension bridge. Here the cadets were able to send text messages to their families and friends. Mobile connection worked really well.
On April 19, the Kruzenshtern entered the Bosphorus. The crew could enjoy marvellous views of Istanbul, the largest Turkish city. It is a transcontinental city in Eurasia, straddling the Bosporus Strait. the Bosporus is mere 700 meters wide at its most narrow point so that the major architectural attractions of the city are clearly visible to the naked eye. There are just three bridges which connect the shores.
The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is the newest one. It was completed in 2016. At 2,164m long, it’s near the northern end of the Bosphorus. The ship passed it at dusk and entered the waters of the Black Sea.
